Story
Oh hi there! :)
On the 30th March I will be running my first ever half marathon (gah!) to raise money for Oxfam. Oxfam's work in tackling poverty worldwide and responding to emergency disasters is invaluable - they deal with the root problems and transform lives so that change can really happen. In 2013, with Oxfam's help, 4.3 million people were provided with a sustainable source of clean water; more than 60 countries signed the International Arms Trade Treaty; and more than £5 millon was raised in only 4 weeks when Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines. I am (fingers crossed) going to make it round this half marathon because I would really love to be involved in what Oxfam will do in 2014.
And it really does make a difference! For every £1 donated to Oxfam, 84p goes directly to emergency, developmental and compaigning work, 9p is spent on support costs and 7p is invested to generate future revenue. Anything you can spare at all will definitely go a long way in helping Oxfam in their mission to eradicate global poverty.
The prospect of 13.1 long hard miles is making me a little nervous, but it is an absolutely brilliant cause, and if you could spur me on with your sponsorship I'm sure it'd make those miles seem ever so slightly less of a struggle!
I would be so so happy to hit my target if you've any pennies to spare (: Thank you so much!
