Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)
Over the next four months I plan to partake in as many fundraising events as possible to raise money for SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health).
The first of my fundraisers will be a FIRE WALK held in the Hilton Garden Inn on the 23rd of March. What better way to hit the ground running on a fundraising spree ay!
A little about the charity...
SAMH provide vital services for people suffering from mental health problems, they campaign against stigma and discrimination towards mental health, they provide training on the prevention of suicide and they provide care for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. These are just a few of many ways in which this charity are combating mental health in scotland and I would very much like to help them continue and expand on the work that they are doing.
Why I have chosen SAMH...
Four and a half years ago my family suffered an incomprehensible loss when my brother Rory committed suicide. There are no words I can use to fully explain the pain of loosing him so I won't try.
Foolishly I have never sought help in dealing with my loss so now feel like I have had my head in the sand for a very long time. I have decided that this year I will pull my head out of the sand and try to do something possitive.
On the 10th of june this year it will be my 25th and Rory's 34th birthday, on the lead up to and including this day I will be trying to raise money in a number of ways to donate to SAMH in honour of my big brother in the hope that the money raised helps other families in their time of need or better yet, prevents such a time from occurring
**1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives**
**
Today two people will die by suicide in scotland**
Any help you can give would be very much apprieciated. Thank you :)
