Story
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2018. I had already got a place in the half marathon and throughout my treatment it has been my goal to still run, which has kept me focused on keeping fit and strong. I have continued to run: before my mastectomy, as soon as possible afterwards, during chemotherapy and radiotherapy and now in hormone therapy. It has helped me so much. Much of my treatment has taken place at the Sussex Cancer Centre and I have also benefitted from the counselling and complementary therapies on offer at the Horizon Centre which was partially funded by the Sussex Cancer Fund. We are so lucky to have these resources in Brighton, for Sussex. The Sussex Cancer Centre is a warm and friendly place to go and I have nothing but love for the staff. Please support us and support them to carry on their amazing work. Andy will be faster as it’s his second half marathon. It’s Tamsin’s and my first race at this distance so who knows? I’ve run the distance recently and was VERY slow. If I make it round I shall be thrilled with myself as I have just finished radiotherapy and am starting hormone therapy this week!
