Story
Simon and I will be running the York Marathon in memory of our dearly beloved father, who very sadly lost his battle with cancer last October.
This will be my first marathon. Simon, as some of you will be aware, is used to challenging himself.....and 26.2 miles will be a breeze compared to his more recent conquests of two ultra marathons (52.4 miles!!). However, he agreed to run with me (dragging me over the finish line!) to help raise money for St Leonard's Hospice, where our father was cared and looked after so well before he died.
I know my father will think I'm completely nuts but the training has helped me stay focused and every time when the going gets tough I can hear him shouting "Really go Ems, really go!" A phrase, as a family, we heard him use so often.
He was our rock and inspired so many people in his life. Running the York Marathon is the least Simon and I can do to help others and keep his memory alive.
Every penny helps, so however small or big a donation you can give, we thank you.
Our love,
Emma and Simon xx
