Story
I am raising money for CHSW in memory of my first born daughter Imogen. Imogen was born on 12th July 2011 and we were devastatingly told that she had an extremely rare life limiting condition.
Imogen was our first child, a much longed for and utterly adored little girl. It became clear very quickly after she was born that her life was going to be very challenging. She was diagnosed with drug resistant epilepsy, a poor swallow reflex (meaning she would need to be fed through a tube), she was registered blind and needed a cocktail of medications as well as 24 hour around the clock care.
Despite all of this Imogen had a fierce personality. Her eyes lit up a room and she had the most incredible and enviable eyelashes I have ever seen. She gave the best cuddles and absolutely loved being in water.
When Evie our second daughter was born in 2013 Imogen had a new very best friend. The girls loved each other very much and despite all of the hospital admissions, challenging care needs and appointments their bond was amazing.
Much of Imogen’s life was spend in and out of hospital until at the age of 4 years and 8 months she very suddenly became ill with a chest infection and died in our arms in our local A and E department.
As a family we were completely broken but thanks to the incredible support we had from CHSW we were able to navigate our way through the initial shock, pain and devastation.
We had spent many a weekend at Little Bridge House throughout Imogen’s life. It was our safe place, our happy place and somewhere we created the most tangible and happy memories.
CHSW have given us the opportunity to look back on Imogen’s life and remember Imogen smiling, having fun and spending time as a family in a beautiful setting.
CHSW were our life line throughout Imogen’s life and death and we can never repay them enough for all of the love, support and memories they provided us with.
So here’s our small way to remember our beautiful Imogen and to say thank you to CHSW.
Myself, my husband and Imogen’s now 2 little sisters Evie and Amelie are going to be taking part in this years Santa Run in her memory.
Any donations will be very much appreciated 💗
