I am raising money to go volunteering in Mexico on a six-month placement starting in January 2012 as part of the Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange UK (ICYE-UK) exchange programme. ICYE-UK is  a charitable, not-for profit organisation working in the area of youth development. It encourages young people to help and support disadvantaged individuals all over the world, with a huge emphasis on lthe exchange of skills, values and ideas.  Pretty good stuff.

I will be working with a local organisation in Puebla, Mexico supporting some of the most disadvantaged sectors and groups within the area, including education, health (particularly the fight against HIV/AIDS) and the disabled.

I've never been a big 'CHANGE THE WORLD' kind of person; but maybe this is why I felt I really wanted to do this - stop sitting around complaining about what a nightmare it must be for some people and get up and do something, finding a way to try and make a real difference to the lives of some people, while supporting the work that ICYE does all over the world.
