Story
I've set myself the challenge of running at least 10 miles to raise money for a cause very close to mine and my families hearts at the moment.
I hope to do more miles if I can but that may depend on how well the winter training goes and if my knees and hips don't play up again.
I will set a date at some point before Christmas, and once my training is on target. Fingers crossed I hope to run 10 miles in roughly 90 minutes.
My training buddy Rustle (the Jack Russell) will no doubt slow me down with his several (hundred) toilet/sniff stops but I'm sure he'll help motivate me to keep going.
2020 has been probably one of the craziest of our lives and has definitely impacted my mental health, so this will also be a huge motivation for me to get myself out of the house and away from the home office to clear my head.
I also know it's probably not the best year, or time of year, financially to be raising money, but even if you can only spare £1 it will be a huge help to their much needed research. I will also be making a donation myself on completion of my run.
I had signed up to do the TUOS Big Walk earlier this year but unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to Covid, though I was able to donate my entry fee to their fundraising instead.
£30 could pay for two hours of research by our early career scientists
£50 could help to cover the cost of a clinical trial for a day
£100 could fund detailed cell analysis, enabling personalised treatments
£200 contributes to funding essential lab tools to speed up research
Thank you so much for your support and I hope we can help raise some money and awareness. Xxxx
