Story
In 2022 Tim started to feel unwell and tired, not so quick on the bike up the hills and some pain after eating . He was also waking up in pain during the night. A blood test showed his haemoglobin levels were half what they should be and scans and colonoscopy discovered a substantial tumour in his lower bowel which had been growing for 8-10 years without symptoms until last year. He underwent surgery in November removing a third of his lower bowel.
He started his gruelling 4 rounds of chemo in January this year which finished in March. It was a tough time for us both and his family and friends.
Sadly his mum was taken into hospital on Mother’s Day this year where it was discovered she also had bowel cancer which had spread to her liver and she passed away 2 days later.
Doing this event will be a real challenge having both been off the bikes for some time.
We want to raise awareness as not everyone has the obvious symptoms and to encourage people to get themselves checked if they have any concerns.
Also doing this event in memory of lovely Edel and Sylvia.
