Story
I am riding from Glasgow University (where I am currently studying) to St Andrews University to raise funds for the Kenyan Orphan Project. The ride will cover approximately 80 miles and the majority of a day. The training will be intense...
KOP is a student run charity, which aims to bring vital aid to impoverished orphans in western Kenya. I shall be volunteering in Kenya with a group from my university over the summer. Our work will mainly be within the area of Kisumu, where there is a particularly high prevalence of HIV/AIDS, resulting in many children being orphaned to the disease and struggling to fend for themselves.
KOP has already done some amazing work, beginning to provide food, education and social support to these children. They have been involved in the construction and running of several health, feeding and education centres, but in order to continue this work they need financial and voluntary support.
That’s where you and I come in; the project I am undertaking will encompass a variety of activities from construction to education. Having already spent some time in Malawi, I can tell you this is a highly rewarding experience. As well as volunteering it is also compulsory that I raise £800 for the charity, and I need your help to do so. So please take the time to sponsor me, and help KOP continue to help these vulnerable children.
Thank you.*The date is currently provisional, but I'll keep the page updated.
