We provide expert, specialist support to women & children fleeing domestic abuse

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running for Charity 'Refuge' in the 2010 London Marathon on 25/04/2010 and need your help to raise some of the £1800 required to take part.

The Charity 'Refuge' who I will be running for, have been going now for 35 years. They need funding to provide 24/7 refuge and support for Women and Children trying to escape domestic violence. They also provide outreach services and culturally specific services.
Although you may not have experienced domestic violence first hand, the likelihood is that you know someone who has, and for those caught up in it, it is a hard cycle to escape.
Many women experiencing this violence feel ashamed to speak to friends and family about the hardships they are going through, feeling as if they are a burden, so it is important that they feel they always have someone to turn to, and a safe place to escape this violence.
The charity will aim to build confidence in these women who eventually will be able to integrate themselves back into the community.
Refuge relies on charitable donations. It is a constant struggle to raise funds for their services, even though those services save the lives of women and children.
Over the months coming up to the Marathon, apart from giving up smoking, drinking, and doing a hell of a lot of training, I will be asking for your help to raise this money.
This is something which is very important to me, and it will not be easy to train or raise the money, so I ask you all for your support and generosity.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you at the events along the way and at the finish line at the end of April!!
