Reading Half Marathon 2014 · 2 March 2014 ·

The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

Most of you will know that after graduating I spent a year in America working as an au pair to Jack and Chloe, two gorgeous children with autism. I saw first hand how challenging everyday life can be for the children themselves as well as for their families.

More than 1 in 100 people in the UK have autism. Autism is a hidden disability, and there is currently no known cause. The National Autistic Society is the UK's leading autism charity; it provides information and support to individuals and families, with the aim that everyone living with autism:

  • gets the support, education and training they need
  • lives with dignity and as independently as possible
  • feels part of their community and wider society
  • is understood by all professionals who support them
  • is respected for who they are by a knowledgeable public.

On 2nd March I will be challenging myself by running the Reading half marathon. 13.1 miles. Bring it on! And please help me to raise as much as I can for such an important cause.

THANK YOU!
