Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In early 2012 Trudy (my wonderful mum) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
Over the following year she had numerous blood transfusions and platelet donations to keep her going along with chemotherapy and steroid treatments. We thought we were on the path to success when she was found to be in remission in early 2014.
Sadly, this virulent disease returned in Summer 2014. We have been supported by the Anthony Nolan team who helped to find a transplant donor from Germany to assist with fixing mums bone marrow. Unfortunetly, this was unable to take place as mum is just still too poorly.
2014 was a tough year, with my lovely mother in law, Ana, also being diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. A sad coincidence. She too has had numerous blood transfusions and platelet donations. She is on the road to recovery thanks to the support and care she has received.
Throughout this process we have been continually supported by wonderful Macmillan nurses, staff from both Queens hospital in Romford and St Bartholemews in London.
We hope that at some point in the future when my mum is stronger the transplant will be able to take place. She needs those little stem cells to save her life and get her fighting fit for the future.
Anthony Nolan helped facilitate 1000 transplants last year, the register has over 500,000 potential donors listed.
They are an amazing charity and my family and I really apprciate just how much they have helped us. I hope that what I can raise will support others in the future.
