Story

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving site.

So what am I doing this time!?

I am running London marathon in April this year, on my 39th birthday in fact! (Hopefully get it ticked off the bucket list before the big 4-0!) It will be my first and I suspect my only marathon!

You may have supported me in the past for various fundraisers that I have done and for that I am very thankful. This one is a little different; it’s a new challenge, I’ve never done a full marathon, so it’s going to be a toughie! I just got back into running this time last year after 4 years off, I have done 3 half marathons in the last 9 months, so I feel as ready as I think I’ll ever be to take on this challenge and it’s physical and emotional demands!

Why I am doing what I am doing…

In the past you probably know, most of my charity work has been for Cedewain school because my sister Laura attended there when she was younger and I’ve always wanted to give something back to them. But this time I want to fundraise for another charity close to my heart, SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal death charity) this is because my youngest sister Julia lost her first born to still birth, Lottie Grace, in November 2011. I have always said that if I ever ran a marathon I would like to run in memory of Lottie and to raise funds for SANDS. Shropshire SANDS were instrumental in helping my sister through this tough time and I just think if I can help those other families that have suffered the same pain and heartache as she has, then running 26 miles is the least I can do!

This is my time!

I tried to get into London via the ballot this year (my 3rd ballot attempt) and failed, I had my heart set on raising money for SANDs, so I applied for one of their golden bond charity places but was unsuccessful, so it was 3rd time lucky when my name got pulled out of the hat at my local running club draw, the Maldwyn Harriers at their Xmas dinner. I am so excited and feel like it really is my time :)  The club have been a great support in getting me back into running, joining them on a Wednesday night when it’s blowing a gale and raining keeps me on track! That and my fabulous running buddies Carol and Cheryl who are a great support. Carol is also lucky enough to be doing London this year, so we have our eyes on the prize of that finish line medal!

I would like to thank you again for visiting and taking the time to read my story. Your donations mean the world to me. Little Lottie Grace will be with me every mile of my training and every mile on the day, keeping me going.

I’ll keep you posted on how the trainings going. 1 week of official plan done, 16 to go!

Lots of love

Emma xx
