Story

***PRIZE DRAW CLOSED AT NOON ON FRIDAY 11th MARCH. I'm not able to close the page at a set time (sorry!) so it is still active for donations, which go direct to DEC.  IF YOU DONATE NOW YOU ARE NOT ENTERED INTO THE PRIZE DRAW TO WIN THE MUG***

As part of The Great Charity Pot and Print Fair I’m offering this one-of-a-kind 'Golden Boris' mug to be won in a Prize Draw to raise funds for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

***EDIT: This mug design is made in the UK and refers to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson. It is a design that I have been making for over a year, and is very popular, hence making a special gold version. The design itself is not related to the War in Ukraine, it is an item that I thought would be in demand and therefore help to raise some funds. It is kind of niche and culturally specific to the UK. No offence is intended to other people named Boris. This is not affiliated with the DEC, Just Giving or any other organisation.***

To enter you can donate to the Disasters Emergency Committee here or you can enter for free by scanning the QR code below.

Each entry will place your name into the hat.

The Charity Prize Draw will close at 12 noon on Friday 11th March 2022 (free entries will close at 9pm on Wednesday 9th March). The winner will be picked at random by me on Friday 11th March 2022.

A couple of things to note before taking part –

  • One donation equals one entry. Any donations big or small will be gratefully received. The minimum donation is £2.
  • Any donations must be placed without Gift Aid.
  • Please leave your contact details with your donation as anonymous donations cannot be entered into the hat.
  • The winner will be contacted via email.
  • Only one prize is available.
  • Open to UK residents only (the prize can only be posted out to a UK address).
  • In order to comply with licensing laws this Prize Draw can be entered for free.

Thank you so much for your support.

About the prize:

This big, cosy mug is thrown on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I apply a chintzy, floral-patterned underglaze transfer on the outside surface and handle. The mug is then fired, coated in transparent glaze and fired again.  The slogan is then applied using real gold lustre, before being fired for a third time.

9cm tall, 9.5cm wide at base, 360ml capacity (measurements are approximate). Hand wash only, not microwave safe!

About the appeal:

Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.  DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.  Every pound donated by the UK public will be matched by the UK Government up to £20 million*.  £30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month.  £50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm.  £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month.  *Please ensure your fundraising page contains this wording to enable donations to be matched.
