A quid for quitting!!!, 27 September 2012
We fund PKD research and give help to transform lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So for those of you that know me, you all know how i love to smoke (and save!) but unfortunatly its a beastly habit that i need to quit for my  own health. Seeing as its Stoptober, i thought why not take the chance to raise some funds for a chairty.

Having being diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) myself back in 2008 it came as a massive shock to me and my family. You dont expect to be told you have a potentially life threatening illness at the age of 28!

Basically the condition means i have lots of cysts growing on my kidneys which are slowly reducing my kidney function. In time it may  mean i need dialysis or a transplant.

My Grandad died of the condition in his 40's but thankfully medicine has advance greatly since then. Luckily at the moment i am still pretty healthy but it may not always be this way. Just because i look well on the outside it doesnt mean my body is working the way it should inside. There is no cure, there is no medication to slow down or improve my condition, so i am in the hands of fate! The one thing i can control however is how i look after myself which is why at last i am ready to give up the dreadful ciggarettes.

So from the 1st October i will be giving up the fags and would like everyone to donate just £1 or whatever you can afford, to make sure research continues into this disease.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
