Story
As a lot of you know, after a horrible year last year my dad died of cancer. It was initially lung cancer which, by the time of diagnosis had already spread to his bones and was therefore terminal. He was officially diagnosed in February and died only eight months later. Over the last few months of his life dad spent a lot of time in and out of the Butterwick Hospice where the specialist staff worked on pain management and finally end of life care for my dad.
The care and support our family received from the hospice was breathtaking and I honestly feel kept us all sane during an incredibly distressing time in our lives. The Butterwick is a charity which runs primarily on donations and is constantly raising money so they can continue giving their vital support and services to other terminally ill patients and their families. If you would like to read more about the Butterwick Hospice please follow this link: http://www.butterwick.org.uk/
To help give a small amount back to this wonderful charity (who not only cared for my dad but also my uncle who also died there) I have entered the Leeds Triathlon on 9 September to raise money for their cause. I have spent the summer running, cycling and swimming in preparation for the event and would really appreciate your support through my just giving account. On the day I will be doing a 750 meter open water swim in the lake at Roundhay Park followed by a 20km cycle around North West Leeds followed by a 6.6km run around the park. I am not the sportiest of people and therefore have had to dedicate a lot of time over the last few months to raise my fitness levels for the event but it is all in a very worthy cause.
If you would like to sponsor me for the event I have a few different ways; if you would like to donate and have a JustGiving account, please use the link below. If you would like to donate but do not have such an account then please just email me and we can arrange an alternative method for your donation. Also I have a paper form that I will be carrying until the event so just ask when you see me. I really will appreciate any support you can offer no matter how small or large as it will all add up in the end.
Many many thanks
Emma
P.S if you would like to be entertained by my breaking myself during the triathlon, please feel free to come down as I WILL complete it…(even if I have to crawl over the finish line)
