Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the age of 20, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
I was admitted to hospital with severe abdominal pains, vomiting and diarrhoea. I went from 11.5 stone to about 8 stone in about 3 months.
Due to my age the nurses thought I was anorexic at first but those of you who know me, will know that I love my food!
Due to the severity of my symptoms I needed to have an operation to remove the inflamed part of my bowel. Since then in 2000, I have got married and had 2 children. When I was pregnant with my first, Megan, my Crohn's flared up which required me to have surgery soon after her birth. After a lot of consideration we decided to go ahead and have another child 4 years later, Jasper, and I did not have any problems with the pregnancy or thereafter.
I will always have Crohn's disease because they have not found a cure yet, but I feel lucky as I can manage mine with medication although I know some people are not so fortunate as myself.
For this reason myself and the rest of my family would appreciate it if you could take the time to give a small donation to NACC as we participate in a fundraising and awareness walk in London to help fellow sufferers like me.
Your money will go towards helping improve the quality of life for people with Crohn's and Colitis by providing support such as information, helplines, local Groups and volunteering. Also the money will be used in research grants to identify the true cause of the disease and a potential cure.
