Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I set up this page so that my family and friends can donate money to Brain Tumour Research whether they are going to join me on the 28th when we will be having a fun evening, wearing a hat whilst remembering Jamie, or that they simply wish to donate to Brain Tumour Research.

It is extremely importantant that Brain Tumour Research is able to reach their fund raising targets so that more work can be done to help people like Jamie.

In September 2008 my husband Jamie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in the cerebellum.

Days later he had a lengthy operation, the surgeon had managed to de-bulk the tumour and just short of 50% of the tumour was removed. Jamie then went through 6 weeks of radiotherapy. It was a stressful time for us all, Jamie was fantastic throughout and even though he was ill after the radiotherapy and ended up in Hospital for a few days he still fought hard.

His determination paid off and in 2010 Jamie was back at work. He had some health problems but he was mostly ok.

Unfortunately during a routine MRI in August of 2012 it was found that the tumour was growing.Jamie started chemotherapy allmost immediately. He did just short of a year on the first chemotherapy when again an MRI showed the tumour was growing. The oncologist and Jamie decided to try another chemotherapy. After three rounds of this the tumour was still growing and had encroached onto his brain stem.

On 20/01/2014 Jamie's oncologist told us that sadly she had nothing more to offer Jamie. This was devastating news.

Jamie deteriorated over the next month. He had a stay in Overgate hospice for just over a week. Then he came home where he so desperately wanted to be.

The next month was difficult and Jamie continued to deteriorate rapidly. It was so hard on Jamie and on us, his family and friends too.

On Friday 07/03/2014 at 23:35 Jamie passed away.

He will always be loved and he will never be forgotten. He was loved so much, he was a son, a brother, a husband a dad, a grandad and so much more. He will be sorely missed.
