Story
My story began in April 2021 when I was supposed to be meeting a friend. While I stood at the train station ready to buy my ticket I had a sudden obtrusive thought that the fridge was going to set fire because there was something on top. This wasn’t the first time I had these obtrusive thoughts. I would often take ages to leave the house and would sometimes have to go home to check that everything was off. Sometimes I would avoid going out so that I didn’t have to go through all the checks. However, as I stood at the station starting to panic I knew it was time I needed to get some help. Since then I have been having CBT sessions with a wonderful therapist to help me deal with my OCD and I only have two sessions left. I am extremely proud of the progress I have made and I am so grateful to all those who have supported me along the way.
I am completing this challenge to raise awareness. OCD is not about people not liking germs like I thought it was. There is so much more to it. Please help me raise awareness to help others that are/have been in the same position.
Thank you for reading my story!
