London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my page! I'm running the 2024 London Marathon and raising money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my amazing dad and I'd be so grateful for your support.
Sadly my dad unexpectedly passed away in December 2022 from a heart attack due to an undiagnosed heart condition. Nothing at all can prepare you for the loss of someone close to you, and in many ways it still feels completely unreal, like a nightmare we’re waiting to end. This past year has been unimaginably painful for my mum and I learning to navigate life without dad by our sides. We have been so fortunate to be surrounded by incredible family and friends who have helped us in every way possible to live with the grief.
Since last year I have been running regularly, having completed two half marathons and several 10km races with friends and my local running club. Since losing my dad, running has become an even more important part of my life, helping me to find purpose again.
When I was lucky enough to secure a ballot entry for the 2024 London Marathon I couldn't think of any other charity I would rather raise money for than the British Heart Foundation, in memory of my Dad. Any donation no matter how small is welcome and so gratefully received - it goes a long way to contributing to life saving research which could prevent the loss of someone else too soon. (it will also motivate me during those very cold and wet runs in the middle of winter!)
Finally, please take a moment to remind yourself how to give CPR, you never know when you might need to:
Learn how to do CPR | British Heart Foundation - BHF
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
