Story
This has taken me a little while to rewrite this page as I set this up before Joe passed away. This marathon has just taken on a whole new level of significance ❤️
Let me start this by saying I AM NO RUNNER but as many of you will know, our best friend Joe received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis at the start of May 2023 which devastated us all. After receiving his diagnosis, Joe was referred to the LOROS team who provided his palliative care up until he passed away on the 27th July 2023.
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life for patients with cancer in Leicestershire and Rutland. I wanted to give something back to this charity who run purely on donations as a thank you for looking after Joe when he needed it.
This is going to be the biggest challenge I’ve ever set myself by a long way…26.2 miles to be precise. I’ve started my training and on the first run I struggled to run 60 seconds, followed by an injury which required 10 weeks of physio before I could run again so the next 5 months are going to be fun.
Joe, I wanted more than anything that you would be here to watch me cross that finish line but I know you’ll be with me every step of the way. I can hear you say ‘go on em’ when I’m finding it tough and that will keep me going. Keep sending me signs along the way, this is for you! ❤️
Thank you for reading this page and I hope you'll be able to donate.
