Story
I am participating in the London Marathon to honour the memory of Abby Webb who was a dear friend, loved by the hockey community and regarded as a family member to my family and most people she knew! I want to raise money for the charity she supported and raised money for, Penny Brohn UK. She continues to raise money for them now through all the people doing amazing things in her name! Truly an inspirational woman!
Penny Brohn UK is an incredible charity that rely entirely on charitable donations . They offer a holistic approach to cancer care and in Abby's words: "I cannot tell you what an incredible place Penny Brohn is, and the free courses and people make it truly inspiring. The impact on people going through this life-changing journey is phenomenal. how it helps people take back control of their health, wellbeing and lives is just incredible, particularly when they've been in such a dark place, with no hope and light".
Anyone who knows me also knows how much I hate to run but I started training for the marathon in March/April 2017 after entering the public bid and applying through Penny Brohn UK. I then injured myself badly in May 2017 and gave myself a Level 4 sprain on my ankle. The rehab and recovery has been tough and slow as it was weakened and damaged so badly. I also hurt my neck and back badly in 2016 which I am still rehabbing through, so yes.......I am a little broken!
I received an e-mail in October 2017 letting me know that I was one of the lucky people chosen to be in the marathon for Penny Brohn UK!! AMAZING!!
I was worried as I had been told I would not be able to run for 2 years after my injury so planned on walking it instead. I have persevered and worked hard to get strong enough to jog. I can see Abby laughing at me right now knowing how much I hate running!!
Please support this incredible charity and help me reach my pledged goal of £4500!
Feel free to message me with any questions you may have!!
