Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This April, I am taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon to raise money for mental health charity, Dorset Mind.
Dorset Mind, a local affiliate of the national Mind charity, is dedicated to helping everyone that experiences a mental health problem to get the support that they need - a cause that is very close to my heart.
Mental health problems do not discriminate; they can affect anyone. In the UK, around 1 in 4 people will suffer with some form of mental health condition in their lifetime, meaning that it is highly likely we will all know someone experiencing mental wellbeing challenges - including ourselves. It is so important to know what the early signs are, and to understand how we can all help ourselves, and others, towards better wellbeing.
Dorset Mind’s early intervention support services reach over 22,000 adults and young people across the Dorset region each year. Its’ services are both preventative and restorative, and include: support groups; befriending, monitoring and counselling; workplace training and coaching; education programmes and workshops for young people; and online resources via its website and social media channels.
All the money raised will support these vital services all year round and directly impact people in the Dorset community.
The event will be a big personal challenge for me, but I am excited to take part and do as much as I can to raise awareness and support for this great cause.
