I signed up to do the marathon at the start of 2014. I really wanted a challenge as I had done a couple of half marathons and after being inspired by watching friends and family complete the race last year I had to have a go! I thought it would be hard work but I could do it.

Unfortunately, whilst I was away in new Zealand my mum got diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. Luckily my mum is a complete legend and has taken her operation and treatment in her stride and has completely aced her recovery. I am so proud of her and even more determined to do the marathon now than ever before as I figure if she can survive cancer I can do a little jog over the seven sisters!!! Therefore I thought it would only be right to make the pain of this marathon worth it by supporting a throat cancer charity. I hope that with help from my fundraising they can carry on helping people and raising awareness.
