Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

This fundraising page has been set up in remembrance of Ben Foulds, my brilliant brother, who died on the 2nd October 2012.

In November 2010, an accident left Ben with a severe spinal injury which left him paraplegic. Although the early stages of his recovery were a struggle, he gradually improved in self confidence and became determined to lead an independent life whilst continuing to study for academic qualifications.

Although he was unable to reach his original goals he set himself new challenges and wanted to live a fulfilling life. He had restarted college and was setting up a new home for himself.

He was always joking and making people laugh, cheering them up when they were down. He had a heart of gold, always caring about others.

We have chosen this charity because Ben was interested in, and always read about, possible advances in spinal injury treatment. With this in mind, we are hoping to raise funds for the Spinal Research charity with the hope of assisting future generations of spinal cord injury patients.
