Story
My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in March this year so he has been back and forward to the hospital in Portsmouth for chemo. Wessex Cancer Trust helped make the journey across that little bit easier by providing free transport to and from the hospital for both him and my mum. They also support people on the Island with cancer and their families providing a variety of services such as counselling and acupuncture. It’s a fantastic charity that would be dearly missed if it was to close.
As a result, on New Years Day I’ll be joining in with a charity swim which involves running in the freezing cold sea dressed as a pirate to help try and raise money. 🏴☠️
Please donate whatever you can to help keep this charity up and running.
Thank you! xxx
For almost 40 years Wessex Cancer Trust has been there for local people during the most difficult of times. When you, or a loved one, get a cancer diagnosis, it can be a huge shock for the whole family. The news is incredibly difficult to process and while the NHS does a very good job of providing clinical care, there are still so many other ways that the illness affects your life, mind, relationships and confidence. This year Wessex Cancer Trust has seen a 30% rise in the number of people using our Cancer Support Centres, but they've also seen a considerable drop in charitable income, including a 65% reduction in people leaving a gift in their will, and a 15% drop in income from charity shops, which has resulted in a serious gap in funding that they're struggling to bridge.
