Story
Well we did it! We walked 10 miles starting at midnight on that dim and distant Saturday night of 22nd May and crossed the finish line around 2.5 hours later. Had we not got stuck in the people jam at the start line we'd have probably made it in just over 2 hours but hey ho we did it and we did it in the fastest time we could.
More importantly and all thanks to all of YOU, we managed to raise a grand total of nearly £4,000.00 for CHASE - the charity we were walking for and Miles, Lisa's son, who benefits from the wonderful care and support that CHASE offers. Thank you all so so much for your generousity towards this fantastic cause, for all your much appreciated support and for allowing us to present CHASE with such a phenomenal combined donation!
Now I can't say that walking in a far too tight, vinyl all-in-one was not without it's challenges - particulalry stepping on and off kurbs which somehow made the neck piece strangulatingly tight. Not to mention the warm up session in a field full of superheros that caused the first seam in the back region to split. Or the assistance required with every trip to the ladies.
But..what a fantastic night to see around 500 superheros marching (or trudging, depending on what they were wearing) along the streets of Guildford much to the bewilderment of passing drunks. Led, I should say, by GMTV's very own Andrew Castle who looked rather fetching in a pair or blue lycra tights and red briefs!
So glad we were a part of this event and the fund raising effort for CHASE and long may it continue!
