Story
Hold your horses, people! Our little trio of Wycombe Wanderers (because we W.A.S. at Wycombe Abbey School) have thrown down our camels in favour of a more traditional mode of transport. That is correct, we are dusting off our walking boots from the haydays of gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and are once more taking to the mountains for a delightful day out in the fresh air.
This time our gentle stroll takes us meandering across a few hills in Yorkshire. We intend to totter up and down these slopes (a total incline of 2142m, i.e. 7,000 ft, and distance of over 24 miles) in under 12 hours. (Although unofficial team captain/dictator, Miss E Heald, has announced that to make it all the more challenging we are attempting this in just nine hours!)
And why, you ask, would three such ordinarily sophisticated young women embark on such a journey?! The answer is that I was bullied into it! But more importantly because we want to raise money for the fabulous Marie Curie Cancer Care. Both my father and grandmother have recently been through treatment for cancer and it is charities such as Marie Curie which provide hope and support to both patients and their families alike.
Please support our cause.
