Story
Both my parents passed away on regular hospital wards. There was no privacy, no specific end of life care and no support for the family. That's not a complaint about the NHS; it's just the way things worked. How I wish I had known about hospice care. Working for FNHC, I can see how amazing the staff are and the difference they make to all who pass through the Hospice doors. The importance of End of Life Care and the creation of those precious final memories with a loved one cannot be underestimated. I don't have happy final memories that I can cherish, but I'm committed to ensuring that more people do, and that they understand the work of the Hospice and benefit from the support and care it offers.
As a Fundraiser, the last year has been very tough for the Charity and it really needs people to step up and give their support. This is my attempt to contribute. This will be a real challenge for me. I'm not a keep fit fanatic or even a local jogger. Sport is to be watched only. I am going to find this walk tough and will be training hard in the coming months. Please do help me to reach my goal.
