Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I would like to give you a slight insight as to what Total Warrior is and why I am going to be completing the 12k Challenge on the 27th of June 2015 in Leeds, Bramham Park to raise money for the Barnsley Hospice.
Total Warrior is the pinnacle of obstacle racing providing the greatest courses set in the finest venues. With 25 to 30 punishing obstacles designed alongside ex-military personnel, you get the ultimate test of strength, stamina, mental determination and teamwork.
I shall be raising money for the Barnsley Hospice as this is a charity close to my heart; Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative care and support to hundreds of local people and their families each year. Their main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients with a life limiting illness, whilst supporting their families, during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills They offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care.
It costs over £9,000 a day to run the hospice. They gratefully receive £1.6m from the NHS each year, but have to raise over an additional £2m to stay open.
The hospice works closely with NHS palliative care providers at Barnsley Hospital and with our colleagues in the community. These include Macmillan nurses, district nurses, general practitioners and the hospital nursing and medical teams. In addition, the hospice links with physiotherapy and occupational therapy, dieticians and the Social Services Department. This guarantees a comprehensive service to patients and ensures that the care given between home, hospital and the hospice is as seamless as possible. Furthermore, the hospice provides an ‘out of hours’ telephone advice line, introduced to further support our hospital and community colleagues. The relationship between the healthcare providers and Barnsley Hospice is excellent, with the patient always at the forefront of the service.
All that I ask for is a donation no matter how small it may be, every penny counts! To help towards the present and future patient's and families that will be supported by the amazing charity!
