Story

Like many for a long time I saw this disease as something that was “an old person’s disease” part of getting older rather than anything else. But it’s not …

This is a silent monster lurking just in the distance, a disease that takes the whole person  and breaks it down one memory, one moment, one day  at a time….

The last 2 years have brought some of these stories and individuals to the forefront of my job. And there is not enough help and support out there. Not for them, not for their families, not for anyone faced with this.

Raising my total will pay for 2 people to have reassurance calls from Alzheimer’s society weekly for a year.  That’s a chance to make a difference to two people who could otherwise feel alone. Having someone do a check in once a week to make sure everyone has someone and something to look forward to. Surely that’s the least we can do?

So I’m asking for your pennies, pounds and support to  help this amazing society do the little things that make a real difference.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
