Emma's Marathon and a Half 2021 · 26 September 2021
Following on from my 10k and Half Marathon in 2020 I’ve decided to take on a big challenge in aid of Guernsey Motor Neurone LBG. Training is in full flow and I hope to complete the Guernsey Half
Marathon in September and my first Full Marathon in October. I hope to do this despite being a chronic asthmatic and having type one diabetes.
Motor Neurone is the name given to a group of related conditions affecting the motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord.
It affects people in different ways, so no two will have exactly the same symptoms or experience of motor neurone.
It can affect men and women at any age.
Motor Neurone affects not only the person with the debilitating condition, but those close to them.
A diagnosis of Motor Neurone is an overwhelming time for the patient and the Charity operates within the Bailiwick to provide emotional and practical support supplying medical equipment, to help keep the patient in the comfort of their own home for as long as possible which is free of charge.
