Story
I am running the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon to raise lifesaving funds for Anthony Nolan.
In October 2019, a week before her 32nd birthday, my best friend Anneka was diagnosed with leukaemia (type ALL- rarely found in those who are over 1 and under 60). A stem cell transplant was her best chance at survival- and on 7th February 2020, because a selfless stranger joined the donor registry, she had a successful transplant! Now Anneka is leukaemia-free, out of hospital, back to selling wine and making post-pandemic travel plans (including the Thailand trip we had to cancel after her diagnosis- I mean, postpone!).
I am incredibly proud to be running for Anthony Nolan so that the families and friends of others with blood cancer like Anneka can receive the same good news. Please support with any amount and encourage the under-30s in your life to join the registry!
For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Today, five people will start their search for a stranger to save their life. Anthony Nolan is the charity that makes lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells. It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. Every new person on the register means another chance for someone to find their lifesaving match.
By donating to our page, you will be giving more people with blood cancer the chance of a future. Thank you so much. Together, we can keep saving lives.
