Story
Devon Freewheelers EVS, also known as the Blood Bikes provides a free out of hours courier service to the NHS across Devon. The service is provided mainly on motorbikes, ridden by volunteers. The Blood Bikes carry whole blood, blood and other medical samples, medication, emergency medical equipment, tissue samples for cross matching before transplant operations and donor breast milk for premature babies. The charity receives no funding from the NHS for this service and relies on public donations to be able to continue to operate.

was diagnosed with CFS/ME back in 2019 through a specialist clinic and support from the hospital. As a result I was placed in the category of those "unsuitable" to donate blood. I got into running slowly, partly during lockdown & partly due to a decline in my mental health. I found my love for running extending to ultra running on the trails where I have the opportunity to really push myself. This has taken time, I am supported by a coach & have to adapt certain parts of my training for my disability. I managed to achieve a goal last year of a 100.mile ultra, this was a real mental challenge for me.
I've always wanted the opportunity to help those in need and I wanted to find a way to do my bit. I know Devon Freewheelers well as I grew up in Devon and know one of the riders. The job they do is incredible, I want to help enable them to continue doing what they do. I am completing the North Downs Way 50k (26/02), 50 miler (20/05) & 100miler (05/08).
