Story
Hello!
I'm running the London Marathon 2023 in April for the Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice; a charity very close to my heart.
Some of you know in the summer of 2020, my wonderful dad David was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away in February 2022. He spent his final week in the care of the hospice, something for which we will forever be grateful for. The hospice and its staff were incredible, not only in their treatment for my Dad, helping to ease his pain and give him the best end of life care possible, but also their great compassion for my family at our worst time.
The hospice only receives one third of their funding from the NHS, so need to raise over £5million each year to keep supporting patients with terminal illnesses, as well as their families through this awful time, through care at home and in the hospice. I've seen first-hand how their treatment can help ease pain and provide dignity, and if my fundraising can help one family like mine I'd be so thrilled.
So... I'm runnning my first ever marathon!!
It's going to be a challenge, I've never run longer than a half-marathon but I'm running for the best cause. It would really mean so much to me if you can donate whatever you're able to, and share my page to help me get to my target.
Thank you so much, Emily x
