We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Dearest friend or maybe lovely stranger, if you are here to donate, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!

I'm fundraising for Guide Dogs because the work they do is so important, in making sure that those who are blind or visually impaired are able to maintain their independence and never feel alone in this world. After heading to a puppy training session earlier this year, I was absolutely blown away by just how much love, care, time and HARD WORK, goes into training the most boisterous little pups into the most absolutely trust-worthy and calm guide dogs we all see around us, and in doing so, help completely transform the lives of those who cannot see on their own.

Guide Dogs don't just provide the dogs we all know and see, they also work tirelessly in other ways to help improve the lives of those who are blind or visually impaired, especially with children and young people, for whom the majority of learning as they grow and develop is visual. Can you imagine being able to navigate your life as easily, or at all independently, if you were unable to see? We take our vision for granted, and being grateful for my independence is something I think about often, so will you help me to raise as much as we can, to help keep changing the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the UK.

------------

About Me: I've never been a natural runner and absolutely detest going out for runs on my own - I signed up to the marathon to prove myself wrong, that I could be disciplined with myself, self motivate, and most importantly, stick to something I had started (hello classic Aries here, loves to start new things, struggles to follow them through!)

I'm writing this page at 9 weeks out after having a major meltdown about the fact that I have still yet to print off a proper training plan - so today is the day I get serious!

My goal is to enjoy and SMILE on every mile around the course - and as someone who is still recovering from a double knee injury I've had for a year, it's going to be a tall order, but I'm determined to babe changed my status of 'detesting' running by the end of this to 'sort of enjoys' 😅

Thank you again for donating (and sharing on!) and keep your eyes peeled for special yoga & Breathwork fundraising events I'll be running soon too!

All my love and gratitude,

Emily (@yehyoga) xoxo

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
