Story
As amateur runners we didn’t quite imagine we’d be collectively running over 100 miles, but all it took was the odd jog here, a yoga session there, to think, hey! we can run a marathon right?!
You often think about all the amazing causes that people
raise money for, but no charity is as inspiring to us as the one that three of us work for, Prisoners Abroad.
Prisoners Abroad supports British citizens incarcerated all around the world; maintaining their dignity, mental health, and essentially keeping them alive.
Prisoners Abroad is a welfare charity currently supporting 1,073 people overseas in 99 countries. The charity translates human rights law into practical life-saving actions by providing prisoners access to vitamins and essential food, emergency medical care, freepost envelopes to keep in touch with home and books and magazines to help sustain mental health. They help family members affected by a loved one’s imprisonment by providing one to one support, hosting family days and support groups, as well as supporting people who return back to the UK, who are often destitute. They find them somewhere to stay, provide grants for food and travel, and help them take vital steps to a new life.
Anyone can make a mistake; it could be a big mistake, or a small mistake that has really big consequences, but we believe that action does not define you as a person. We believe that people should be supported during and beyond their imprisonment and have the opportunity to lead a normal life again.
So here we are, eight weeks away, flights are booked, training is well underway, and we would love our wonderful friends and family to support us to help raise money for such a significant and worthy cause.
All support is massively appreciated,
loads of love Daisy Emily Eppie Abi
