Story

I am doing the London to Brighton Bike Ride on the 17th June in order to raise money for Childline. By taking part in this 54 mile cycle, I am aiming to raise as much money as possible for Childline to help fund them to recruit and train volunteers, allowing them to answer more calls from young people.

I have chosen to raise money for Childline in order to help and allow children to deal with the problems that they may face, as well as wanting to raise awareness for mental health. The work that Childline does for children is life-changing, and I would like to try and further the resources available to children who are already in contact with Childline, as well as those who are thinking about talking to them.

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC
