Story
I entered the Cardiff half marathon with the intention to raise money for the NSPCC, a charity fighting to end child abuse. 2 days after entering I completely tore my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in my left knee following a skiing accident. My first thought was that there is no way I can run a half marathon following this injury but I have decided to do it anyways. It doesn’t matter to me if I run the whole way or hobble and walk as long as I make it over the finish line! I will be starting physio shortly with a 50/50 chance of needing reconstructive surgery. I’ve been told that following physio and potential surgery it will be a 6-12 month recovery period. The marathon is in 9 months.
Therefore I would appreciate any support you can offer both financially for the NSPCC and any training/recovery tips and advice. Every penny donated will go straight to the NSPCC.
As many of you know me well you’ll know that I’m always active and pushing through injuries. The hardest part of this has been to admit that I’m going to have to slow down for a little and fully commit to the rehab process but this time I have a goal which will not only challenge me mentally and physically but also help the lives of any child who will need the services of the NSPCC.
