Story
I am fundraising towards Whizz-Kidz’ vital services for young wheelchair users. I have chosen this wonderful charity because for the past few years, I have been helping take care of my gorgeous, fun-loving, and affectionate cousins, Otto and Greta, during their school holidays. Both of my cousins are non-verbal and have significant special needs. Whilst both can walk well, Otto needs his wheelchair to help him explore further afield - Greta does a marvellous job of pushing him around! Otto’s wheelchair enables us all to get out and about, enjoying walks with family and friends, visits to museums and galleries, and trips abroad. Having been lucky enough to spend so much time with Otto and Greta, I realise how important it is for all people who require a wheelchair to have one which fits their individual needs.
Offering a range of wheelchairs and mobility equipment designed to fully meet the needs of children and young people with a physical disability, including powered wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, sports wheelchairs, trikes and buggies, Whizz-Kidz’ aim is to empower young wheelchair users, providing support and confidence-building experiences as well as campaigning for a more inclusive society.
There are an estimated 75,000 young people in the UK who need a wheelchair to be mobile, with most young people not getting a wheelchair that fully meets their needs through local services. With your help, I would love to be able to support the aims of Whizz-Kidz. The right wheelchair is more than just a set of wheels; it can be the key to unlocking a young person’s greatest potential, with accessibility being no limit.
