I have been working for this incredible organisation for two years and have great respect and admiration for its work.

PBI has been working to support people who stand up for human rights and justice for 35 years. We send teams of international observers to areas of conflict to protect local human rights defenders whose lives and work are under threat.  

PBI achieves amazing things with limited resources. According to Cristina Auberach, human rights defender fighting corruption and impunity in a mining region of Northern Mexico: "PBI gives me and other human rights defenders in Mexico the chance to wake up alive every day." PBI directly supports over 600 defenders worldwide who protect and promote the rights of hundreds of thousands of people.

Our work is based on principles of non-partisanship and non-interference, in the belief that lasting transformation cannot be imposed from outside but must be based on the capacity of local people.
