Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you are aware, we had a really difficult time when we had our beautiful baby boy Joshua in June of last year. I have spent the past year battling PTSD and postnatal depression as a result of my birth trauma.

Luckily, I received absolutely fantastic care from the Hertfordshire Perinatal Mental Health Team, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist from the Herts Wellbeing Team, as well as support from other birth trauma victims. Thankfully, we are now on our way out of a very difficult time.

Birth trauma is real for both women, partners and their families and more awareness and support needs to be given to them as a collective. Not everywhere in the UK has a perinatal mental health team like we have in Hertfordshire and it's sad to think that other women and their families might be out there suffering alone, without the sort of care I received.

So, now is the time for me to do my bit! I will be giving up my beloved wine (well alcohol in general) and cigarettes as of 1st Sept for 8 weeks to raise money as well as awareness for the Birth Trauma Association.
