Hello, my names Emily and the UCLAN swim team and I are asking for just 2 minutes of your time to try and help us, help those affected by the Ukraine Crisis.
Ever since hearing the news of war on Ukraine, I am unable to stop thinking about the pure fear, and pain innocent families and civilians are devastatingly being put through.
People are losing not only their homes, but their lives too, with families being torn apart by this tragedy. Basic things such as water and healthcare are under extreme threat.
Everyone is desperately trying to escape but our thoughts must especially go to those with lower incomes who are struggling to afford to even try to escape. This means they have to stay, and endure these truly traumatising times.
The first thing that may spring to your mind is that you're glad it's not happening in your home country, your home town, your families, and your friends. However, the only thing that separates us, is the fact we are lucky enough to be sat on the other side of the world right now.
We may seem to just be people with no ‘power’ meaning there's nothing major we can do to cause a significant difference or simply put a stop this tragedy altogether but we want to do all we can to try. In order to do this, we have therefore decided to try and raise money for things such as medical supplies, food, water and shelter. Just basic things such as this will not only help the heroic, injured soldiers fighting day and night to try and protect their country and loved ones, but also the innocent civilians who are crying out for our help.
In order to do this we are going to swim the entire length of Ukraine which equates to 346.4 miles.
This works out at just over 203 hours of swimming with a grand total of 22 THOUSAND lengths.
Any donations small or big would be appreciated and thank you for taking your time to listen to our story.
The people caught up in this conflict need support and protection and we must do all we can to help them.
Thank you for your time! #chooselove #saynotowar
