Winter 22 challenge - The Wave Project
50% of all mental health problems start by the age of 14 and sadly suicide is still the largest cause of mortality amongst young people.
But suicide is preventable. The Wave Project is an amazing charity that run surf therapy projects all across the UK, as an evidenced based intervention to help tackle these statistics, and support those affected by them. They provide a safe space for children to be themselves, overcome challenges, and feel part of a community, all of which are key to good mental health.
As a mental health nurse, I’ve never felt as inspired by anything as I have by being in the water with the wave project, and seeing the life changing impact of the ocean and community. We need more early intervention.
I’ve (probably foolishly!) decided to walk 22 mountains between 13th November 2021 and the end of January 2022. Due to geography and having to work Monday to Friday, it makes sense for me to do (a large majority of!) the mountains in the Brecon Beacons.
They may not be the highest mountains, but I’m not the most experienced hiker, and the UK weather over winter is as predictable as my navigation skills….
So please, if you can, donate a small (or large 🤪) amount of money and help the Wave Project continue to support vulnerable young people and changing lives.

THE MOOR THE MERRIER!
I’m still looking for people to walk with, especially on those bad weather days! So If you would like to join me for any of the hikes, I would be extremely grateful for the company - so please drop me a message ❤️ I’ll post regular updates along the way of when and where I will be walking.
DISCLAIMER:
For geographical reasons, 3 of the 22 peaks I’ve chosen are slightly shy of the definition of a mountain, In total between them - 187 metres shy. If you chose to donate, feel free to make a suggestion of an activity you’d like to see me do for 187 metres at the end of the challenge, and I’ll pick the best one and promise to deliver.
