Event: Bupa Great Manchester Run 2013, on 26 May 2013
In memory of Sandra Torkington

Story

I am running in the Great Manchester Run (10k) to support my close friend Gemma Torkington who sadly recently lost her wonderful Mum, Sandra Torkington to the blood cancer, non-hodgkins lymphoma and to raise money for ward F11 at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

Ward F11 is the Haemotology department who cared for Sandra. The unconditional support of the amazing doctors and nurses in Ward F11 enabled Sandra to see and enjoy important events such as Gemma's 25th Birthday and Christmas 2012.

A big factor in providing comfort for Sandra which gave her movement and prevented further pain was her 'lazyboy' style recliner chair. Unfortunately, the hospital only has 1 of these. We would like to fundraise to enable all patients to have the joy and comfort of these chairs.

Each chair costs £800+VAT, and with your help and donations we hope we can get as many of these as possible.

Please donate whatever you can, no amount is too small. It would mean the world to us all, especially to Gemma and her family. Sandra touched all of our hearts in some way and Gemma is one of the strongest people I know.
