Story
In the summer of 2018 we travelled to Sri Lanka for a holiday, to see family and for Emily to spend some time volunteering with Dogstar Foundation and Yawajeewa Community Learning Centre in Negombo. We raised just short of £1,000 from your very generous donations and we were able to provide much needed funds to help with the neutering and rabies programme for the street dogs carried out by Dogstar Foundation as well as helping fund the breakfast club and a washing machine at Yawajeewa.
Our original intention was to then close our Just Giving page but meeting the wonderful children and teachers at Yawajeewa and seeing the good that Dogstar Foundation do every day to look after the street dogs means that we could not just stop. More dogs vaccinated means less children will contract rabies. More dogs neutered mean less street dogs and less suffering and again less chance of rabies spreading. Plus the importance of the work Yawajeewa do to support children that would otherwise not be able to access education, they are helping them have a future that we take for granted.
So as a family we are going to continue to support these good causes and from time time time I will be publishing this link via my personal Facebook page and my blog. We are now making a regular donation to fund one week of breakfast club per month - that is just £25 per month and it means the children can have a nutritious meal before school every day. We will also be collecting small change and making regular donations to Dogstar Foundation.
Please do make a small donation to this page if you would like to or if you would like to find out more then do visit Dogstar Foundation's website or my blog. My hope is that the money raised on this page can be split 50/50 between these two good causes.
Thank you very much for your support.
