Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am going to attempt to run a half marathon to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness, who support people affected by mental health problems, and work towards ending stigma and discrimination on a societal level. It is something I am very passionate about and I am very privileged to work with people who experience such life changing and debilitating symptoms; I frequently feel humbled by being let into their world and have so much admiration for their strength and resilience.
MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS CAN AFFECT ANYONE! There is still such a huge amount of stigma in society and I believe it is so important for this to be tackled to reduce isolation and enable everyone to be a part of our communities. This inclusion and respect is a massive part of people's recovery from mental illness.
I am running this half marathon in support of my boyfriend, who is amazingly doing 5 half marathons in 5 consecutive weekends with different people.
After some ongoing health problems, I am also doing this to get fit and improve my physical well being, and have been training regularly since the start of the year. Those who know me will be aware that I am not a runner! My body agrees with this and I've developed a dodgy knee, therefore I feel obliged to make a disclaimer about 'attempting' the run as I'm not overly confident my body will let me complete it! That said, I am giving it my all and trying my best, and that's what counts, right?!
Any donations would be super appreciated, however big or small. Thank you so much!! You can donate quickly and safely online (by PayPal if you wish!) or by sending a free text with the code OHYO48 £5 to 70070. Don't forget to gift aid it!
Massive thanks :)
