The Grand Brighton Half Marathon 2020 · 23 February 2020 ·
I've been part of CWNN Brighton as a volunteer for over a year. It's been amazing to be a part of this supportive community full of love and biscuits that brings people together through the joy of singing. I've seen members grow in confidence and build friendships - and I'd like to raise money for the choir to keep providing this important space for people who need it.
The Choir with No Name Brighton is a choir for homeless and marginalised people who sing uplifting pop songs, rehearse weekly and sit down for a healthy, hot meal afterwards cooked by volunteers.
The reasons why someone may become homeless, and the problems they face once they are in that position, are about a lot more than just a lack of housing. Their members face challenges that range from mental health problems, to relationship breakdown and bereavement, to drug or alcohol addiction.
The Choir with No Name Brighton believes that singing together can lift you from those circumstances and make you feel good. It builds confidence, skills and lasting, genuine friendships. It restores a sense of pride and self-belief that may have been lost. CWNN Brighton provides the support members need to get back on their feet, as well as a chance to leave their troubles at the door and have fun. And nothings more fun than singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of your voice!
