Story
Over the coming weeks we, along with our friends, will be completing four different fundraising events in order to raise much needed funds for Tearfund's work in eradicating poverty around the world. We have been particularly moved by the plight of refugee communities in recent times and hope that the fundraising we do will also help us to appreciate the struggles that many people face when they are without the safe homes and the amenities that we take for granted.
We will be:
1- giving up our washing machine for a week and going old school with our laundry to highlight the issue of energy poverty.
2- rough sleeping for a night to experience in a small way the realities of people fleeing to safety.
3- walking from Loughborough to Nottingham
4- Busking in Loughborough town centre
5- a 'blackout' in which we give up our technology for a period of time.
We appreciate that the times we're living in might mean that money is tight for lots of people, but if you do feel able to give even a small amount to this cause, we would be hugely grateful!
God bless,
Team Westfield and friends xx
(Emerging Influencers is a six-week leadership programme for 16-23-year-olds. This community of young adults are raising money for Tearfund's life saving work in helping people to lift themselves out of poverty. We are raising funds to help our global neighbours who are facing extreme poverty and those who have been thrust into poverty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the pandemic began, Tearfund and our local partners and churches have been responding to the needs of vulnerable communities all over the world. This has included providing emergency food packages during lockdowns, setting up hand-washing stations in communities, and distributing face masks and hygiene supplies.)
