WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Please read on and find out why we are raising money for Kidney Research UK.
THE NITTY GRITTY
On 25 January 2018 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). My Dad had it and he sadly passed away in 2016 after a kidney transplant in Spain, and subsequent complications after the operation.
There is no cure for kidney disease.
ABOUT ME
Having PKD hasn’t sunk in yet, at the time of writing this I’ve known for just over three weeks, and I am very scared, I’m not afraid to admit that. So I’ve decided to put on a brave face and raise some money for much needed research. So here’s the plan.
THE WALK
On Sunday 10 June we will be walking 7 miles, across some lovely bridges in Newcastle, in a purple group of others who also support this most worthy cause. 7 miles isn’t far but I thought I could also take some photographs en route and post them on my social media accounts afterwards, to raise awareness.
HOW YOU CAN HELP US...
I hope you will consider supporting our walk and help raise money and awareness for this cause which is now part of my life. If you can help us do that, it would be amazing.
THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER THE MOST
Having spoken to my beautiful daughters, they are now keen to come along too. I will update.
PLEASE READ OUR UPDATES
I’ve decided to update regularly because I think it makes this fundraising journey more interesting. Already so much has changed in one day (9 March) so please do keep coming back to see how we are getting on.
THE DATA STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
Thank you for reading this, and for your support. It means more than I/we can say.
PS
I started this page with a target of £77.77, as 7 is my lucky number and the walk is 7 miles. As we have surpassed that by a long way in a short time (3 days!) I have decided to go for the impossible. So our target is now £1,000. It may or may not be doable but if we don’t try how will we ever know.
Thank you for supporting us.
